Kat Porter

At times, we can feel overwhelmed by life's challenges and disconnected from our authentic selves. However, I believe you are inherently whole, with infinite wisdom and strength. My role as a therapist is to support your journey toward self-acceptance and self-discovery.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in the perspective that the mind, body, and spirit are deeply connected. I incorporate somatic exercises, or body-oriented techniques, that help tune into physical sensations, movements, and breath. This can help to process emotions, release trauma, and improve mind-body connection. My work also draws from existential philosophies, emphasizing living congruently with your core values and beliefs. These approaches were further enriched by my internship at a surf therapy organization, where I witnessed firsthand the powerful healing effects of connecting with nature and engaging in play. This experience deepened my appreciation for holistic approaches to mental health and inspired me to integrate mindfulness practices into my therapeutic work. Through these various techniques, including mindfulness, we can cultivate present-moment awareness, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being.

While I am particularly interested in areas such as anxiety, identity development, self-esteem, perfectionism, body image, chronic health issues, and stress management, my primary focus is helping you uncover who you truly are. In a nonjudgmental space, free from external influences and expectations, we can define what happiness and fulfillment mean for you.

Ultimately, I believe that healing arises when we fully embrace and accept our human experience—light and dark, happiness and pain, and even the parts of ourselves we are not proud of. I hope to offer you an empathetic and open space for this exploration so that you can live a life of choice, authenticity, and wholeness. I look forward to meeting you where you are on this journey!
